As you can see, time takes its toll, but life goes on and as long as we still our sense of humour, things can be dealt with.
I don't think you an imagine how much your support has meant to me. All of the cards, letters, calls and visits have made a difficult situation bearable. Thanks goes to Connie Dougherty's daughters for this idea as they did a splendid job while their mom was in the hospital having heart problems of making us all feel like we could reach out and touch her. It helped a lot to know. Hopefully we can use this to keep everyone informed and it is set up so replies can be made and the site will send an email to Tom right away to notify that a reply has been recieved.
In general, my condition is something called demetia with Lewey bodies. It is caused by some kind of protiens that connect to nerve cells and is a cousin of Parkinsons. At first some of the symptoms were very difficult until they dicovered that this condition displays a serious reaction to many of the drugs they use.
At the moment, I cannot walk, in a wheel chair and have severe impairment of my left hand. It is closed in a fist like a stroke victim and is not useful for anything much except causing problems. We have a excellenct therapist named Phyllis who tries very hard to keep some movement in it and to minimize my discomfort from it.
The good news is that my mind is good. I still remember everyone and everything and aside from some physical impairment, don't feel that bad most days.
The Cut Knife Care facility is a very nice place, they feed us well and there is a tremendous staff of girls who seem to genuinely care about us.
Winter has been long this year and there is lots of snow, but warmer weather is here now and soon there will be baby ducks on the pond behind our building.
I have many friends here although some days the frustration of being dependant to get around is just about too much.
There are a group of five or six of us who sit together for meals and tea and have become good freinds. There are of course many here who are much older and worse off.
Tom and Sandra visit at least a couple of times a week and when the weather permits I try to get out of here for part of a day each weekend.
It is only short walk to their house and Tom will push me in the wheelchair on nice days. We had a nice christmas together at their house.
I have had visits here from Linda and Pat ,Lindas daughter Leanne and Debbie and Syd. Also my freind Joyce from Edmonton and her sister were here. It means a lot that people care.
I hope this helps to keep in touch. Tom and Sandra will try to update it with any new information. Please tell anyone who is interested how to find it and send your replies . In most cases I will get them within a day or so. Keep the cards and letters coming, I look forward to them more than you know.
Good health to all and hope to hear from you soon
Lois

Hey, this is great! Can I post additional photos?
Hi grandma. I miss you lots and hopefully will be able to come see you soon. Life here is pretty much the same. Well I'll write back soon when I have something. Till then love you and hug you and a little kiss on the cheek.
Hi Mom, your are looking great. Will be coming out in August to see you. Nat is expecting a third baby (We are hoping for a boy) but healthy girl will be just fine). Due August 21st. She is with a nice guy named Anthony and they are doing very well. Emma will be four this year, and never stops talking. Then there is Miss Amee who will be two, has the personality of her Auntie Rae, but looks like her Mom. Jaye and his girlfriend Jamie have bought a new house in Kamloops and will be moving in on Mar 23. They are excited, my god he is going to be 29 in a few months. He has been with Jamie for over two years. He works out of Kamloops now and they are doing very well. No wee ones on the way. Which is good, Jaye has two much fun with his neices. He already has their bedrooms picked out for his house. And the playground is right across the street. So he is excited to have the girls come stay the night. Rick and I are fine, just about finished the renos on the duplex. Then we are selling and moving into a newer duplex for older people. I make a joke to Rick all the time, the seniors willage is right across the street, so I can send him there. We will be close the Emma and Amee as so when they get older they can walk to Nana's. Love and Miss you Lots x0x0x0x0x0 will send pictures. Love Jane and Rick

Hi Grandma,
I am glad to hear that you have another way to communicate with family and friends. I will still send letters though when things get a little hairy around here. Spring break has been a blast, the kids hanging off me for TEN straight days is going as well as any finger slammed in a door. You know, at first the shock is unbearable, then the pain sets in followed by the reality that it is going to feel like this for a few days. Then the depression takes over until you realize that it will be back to normal in just a couple of days. Yup. so, as of Monday, spring break will be over and things will be back to normal around here. I will then be able to write you a letter. I hope you are well amd I think of you daily and miss you.
Love always,
Marj
Hey Grandma,
How they hanging? (That's okay, mine too) Not much happening around here. New neighbour causing all kinds of problems for everyone who lives up here but it is time for another neighbor-hood bout. Ken is doing pretty good. He has had to keep track of his blood pressure for the last couple of weeks but it seems to be fine. He is already looking at wood season. Well, he was, until the new neighbour kinda did a number on his windshield on the wood truck today. It is a wee bit hard to see out of. We have no idea why this idiot did this, we have never even spoken to the guy. So, on goes the battle. Kids are still alive and kicking. Jason has a job and Jessie has a boyfriend. Take a guess as to which one I'm happy about! Here's the funny thing though: Jody is living with a guy who's last name is my maiden name & Jessie is dating a kid who's mother was my best friend in high school and Jody is named after. Well, her middle name, Alice, so, now we are all kinda wondering which cousin Jason will marry. lol
It is fun with Jessie I must admit. She had no clue who her boyfriends mother is. I know things about him that she doesn't and I spring little pieces of knowledge on her from time to time. It bugs the Hell out of her that I might know something about him or his family that she doesn't. Oh, right, Jason. Yes, he is working putting up fence. He does it on weekends and so far enjoys it very much. It does help that his best friend works with him too. He was funny tonight. We watched the Vancouver Canucks win their seventh game in the first round of play-offs and he was saying that the players could now shave off their play-off beards. (They don't shave until they are out of the play-offs or win the Stanley Cup) Anyway, I told Jason that they won't shave and he says, "Ohhh, no! I was doing the same thing." I never said anything but Ken did. He started laughing and said, "Oh, so that is why you have those twenty whiskers sticking out of your face. I was wondering why they were there." I did happen to notice that his face was smoothe when he kissed me good night tonight. And as for me, I am doing just fine. A little worried about the new neighbour but I am sure in the end he will see the error of his ways. I have been up for too many hours now so if the spelling is all wrong and the words came out in strange orders, blame it on lack of sleep. That's what I am going to do anyway. So until the next time, you take real good care and remember we are all here thinking of you and wishing you the best. So for now, I love you,
Marj
Hi Lois,
Hope that this can get to you. I was previously unable to leave a message. Like your blogspot. Thanks for the card and note last month.
Tony and I have been working on the garden and doing some hikes with the naturalist club. One that we lead was to Kentucky-Alleyne near Aspen Grove.
I will see if that does stay with your site. Email address is corache@cablerocket.com

Hi Grandma,
Well, it’s that time of year again. Kids will be out of school and not only driving me crazy, but now wanting to use MY vehicle to help them achieve that goal. Ken and I were kinda forced to get a new car. Now I don’t want any of the kids sitting in it never mind driving it. Lol Yeah, I know, I’m mean. We are keeping our truck though and I have been spending my time rebuilding it sort of. I am doing all the body work myself and then the engine needs about a thousand bucks work done to it. We are going to put a few thousand into it and keep it for a few more years. It is cheaper than spending fifty or sixty thousand on a new pick-up. The Fibromyalgia is really affecting my hands now so it is a real challenge doing this work as it is ALL hands on stuff. I don’t know if Mom told you about my back. I have Osteoarthritis and Spondylosis in it and that what is causing all the pain. Good news though, finally! Sometime between Aug. and Oct. I go in for a procedure where they knock me out and then burn the nerve ends beside my spine. This makes it so I can’t feel the muscle anymore. Right now, it is driving me nuts knowing I will be having this done yet have to suffer while working on the truck. I will have the truck done just before they do my back. Figures eh? It will be a great thing come hunting season. I will be able to go for the walks without having to drug myself up first to the point that if Ken or Jason lean against a tree with branches hanging down I am so high I think I am about to bag myself a fourteen point Doe! I guess if that did happen though, I sure would get a shock when I started to clean her, she would have funny looking body parts. I’m not sure, have you ever heard of there being deer Hermaphrodites?
Guess what…….too late, I am telling you. With a little luck, I will be coming to see you next month. Jessie wants to spend some time with my Mom and I want her to spend some time on another planet so I compromised and figured Saskatchewan was as close as I could get to another planet. I want to see my cousin Colleen so it would be a worth while trip all the way around. I get to see some of my favorite people and Jessie gets to Bitch at my….um, sorry, gets to see Mom and Tom and get to know them a little better. Jason has a job tearing down and then putting up fence for the summer. The little brat is making ten bucks an hour and makes more in four days than Jody does in two weeks. He really loves the job though and gets to do it with his best friend as well. Being out doors and doing something physical is a dream come true for him. We are happy, he is becoming a remarkable young man. Don’t get me wrong, I would still trade him for a week of silence, but I am proud of him. Lol He continues to bug me every time he gets a chance and still tries his little pranks on me but I remain the champ in that field. My next move is, while he is sleeping I am going to tie his door knob to the door knob in the porch and watch while he tries to figure out why he can’t get out of his room to go pee. He wouldn’t come home on April Fools Day. A few days later he told me it was because he was afraid of what I had planned to do to him. The joke was him this time, I forgot all about the stupid day. I guess you could say he blew it, he missed his chance to do something to me. So, yeah, he has a job he loves and Jessie is already planning all her escapes from home. A week at the coast, some time at Kens’ Moms’ and some time with Mom and Tom. Jody and Sean are getting pretty excited about moving into their new place. Jody quit at Herbies and is now working for Sean’s parents chamber maiding. She seems a bit more happy now that she is not dealing with the ups and downs of working in a restaurant. I will be happy when they move so I can phone her when I want. Right now all they have is the phone Sean uses but it is a work cell phone. I have a problem calling Chuck’s Repair to find out where my kid is. Jody is getting her phone hooked back up when they move. Wouldn’t I get a shock if when I phoned her instead of, “Hello, Chuck’s Repair” I got, “Hello, Jody’s Whore House!” Then I would seriously have to think about the ole saying, ’Watch what you wish for!’
Ken is doing pretty good. He got used to the feel of retirement after his heart attack. Now he just went back to work from holidays and that short time brought back that retirement feeling. He is tired of Yabba Dabba Doo Land and I can’t say that I blame him. 33 years and counting. If he didn’t have these two extra mouths open all the time and hands held out he could retire now. I think I need to talk to Sean and tell him to take a good look at Ken. He was 35 before he had kids and is now realizing that that was a little too long. Sean is 31 and says he wants kids but like all of us, just can’t seem to say, “I want kids now.” I think him and Jody are waiting to say, “Oops!” It’s funny how some things stay the same eh!?! We just wait until we can say, “Well, shit happens! I guess we better get ready to become parents. We have seven months left.” Ken is the oldest and he is the only one without Grandchildren. BUT!!! I am the youngest and it does not bother me one little bit that I am NOT a Grandparent!! Wow, opposites really do attract. Mind you, there is an upside. I can always say, “Oh no, sorry. I can’t baby-sit for you, your Dad does not have the energy to do little kids again.” lol Yup, nothing like a heart attack to make you realize you want to retire, no pun intended. No really, well, oh okay, you got me, pun intended!
As for me, well, I am pretty good. Happy that the stupid medical field finally caught up to the eighteenth century and found the root of my problems. Now that I know what is wrong I can do things to help myself. Yes I know, pounding nails, using power tools, running the stupid heavy weed eater, swinging an axe, running a power saw, climbing trees, changing brakes on two vehicles, building fence and what not would generally not be called, ’helping’, there are things I can still do to help. Like what you ask? Well, for one, I have enough medication to plant me on Pluto if need be! Oh stop frowning, I am kidding. You will be happy to know that I am learning when to say enough. Now when I start hurting I stop what I am doing. It does have it’s draw backs though, like when I got sore from shifting the gear shift so I just stopped what I was doing. My passengers didn’t think it very ’helpful’ as the car headed for the embankment, but hey, it is a learning process after all. Give me a break! As for my Diabetes, I have learned to control it. I just don’t test my blood. Simple, affective and efficient. Just don’t tell mom okay? Yes I know she is reading this to you but I have found that when given two jobs to do at once she tends to forget parts of it. I am hoping this a part she forgets. Could you remind her to forget please. Thanks a million Grandma, I owe you. (The second job she is doing right now is think. I find it hard to read and think at the same time too.) Seriously though, I can’t get my numbers to come down so I have to see the ole saw bones again and she will probably up my medication. I have to have my six month blood tests done real soon so I won’t be able to hide my results from my doctor. About all I can do is run away and come and visit you. Then we have to get our wood in and try to clean this place up a bit. I want to build a new wood shed away from our home which means turning the one attached to it into fire wood. So I have a busy few months ahead of me but it is better than being bored all the time. Besides, like Jason, I love the outdoor stuff as long as my body allows.
Take care Grandma. I miss you terribly and still watch for you. I don’t think that will ever change. I love you and am really looking forward to seeing you, Lord willing. Don’t go getting any speeding tickets in that chair now and watch out for those pesky tailgaters. They can be hard on bumpers.
As Always, with Love,
Marj
P.S.
If there are any screw ups in this, blame the reader. That's what I am going to do. LOL

Hi Mom
Just thought I would let you know all is well here. Nat's baby is due in August sometime. It is a girl and they are naming her Madaysn Rae which I thought was nice that they put Raeanna's name in there.
Jaye is working in town, he started up his own company and is doing really well. Him and Jamie have bought a house up the hill from us in Aberdeen. They seem happy. No marriage yet so no babies. And this is Natalie's last one. No more trying for girls.
Rick has been having some trouble with his insides, They have not determined what it may be. He is scheduled to go to the hospital for a test to check out his stomach and insides. Have been taking him to the hospital alot lately. Will Keep you posted.
We are still working, have holidays the end of August, but then Nat will have Maddie so have to stay about to help her. Anthony Mom said she will come and help also. So that takes a load off. And of course we are having good old Kamloops hot weather 40 plus. But I have Emma's baby pool to swim in that is good enough for me.
Take Care and Love you Lots
Jane
Hi Lois,
I finally found Tom's address and am sending a card there. I have had little success sending a message through this blog.
We are fine. Are not going to Arizona to visit my kids at this time of year, for a change. Tony has had one cataract operation and will have another at the end of March.
We are still pretty busy with the naturalists club. I do the newsletter three times a year, and take care of the membership data base.
We have become avid bird watchers and have suet and seeds out for them. We get quite a variety. We are still learing the names of some of the more common birds.
Hope this gets to your blog.
Cora and Tony Cherry
Hi Lois,
I think that I know how to put a letter on your site. The snow is melting and we are getting some spring birds. Spring is coming. We have decided to wait until later in April before we take a trip to Portland to see Rachel. At least we are in contact through email.
Hi Lois,
I started a note to you, and accidently save it to your blog.
When I finish this I will try the same accident again if I can remember it.
I will probably be going to Arizona in May to attend the 40th anniversary of the Art Ranch we founded in 1968. They really expect me as I was one of the original founders. Unless I can talk Tony into driving down through Colorado, I will fly down, much as I hate flying.
Hope you are well and have received the cards I sent you.
Cora and Tony and Jasper
Keep up the good work.
